Products & Ingredients

Yes — all Only Organic products are certified organic.

Our products are certified by AsureQuality, which means they meet strict standards for ingredient sourcing, production and quality.

It’s one of the ways we help ensure our food is made with thoughtfully selected ingredients and no artificial colours or flavours.

Certified organic ingredients are at the heart of Only Organic — it’s in our name and has been part of the brand from the beginning.

Certified organic standards set clear requirements for how ingredients are grown, sourced and processed, giving families added confidence in the food they’re choosing.

All Only Organic products are certified by AsureQuality and made with thoughtfully selected ingredients, with no artificial colours or flavours.

Only Organic products do not contain preservatives.

Instead, we use carefully developed recipes, specialised production processes and sealed packaging to keep our products safe and high quality.

Some fruit purées and smoothies contain ingredients such as vitamin C (ascorbic acid) or citric acid. These are used to help maintain colour, freshness or acidity, and under Food Standards Australia New Zealand standards they are not classified as preservatives.

Our meat products stay shelf stable thanks to a combination of recipe design, specialised heat treatment and sealed packaging.

After the product is filled into the pouch, it is heat treated and sealed. The unopened pouch then acts as a protective barrier, helping keep the food safe until it is opened.

We do not use preservatives to achieve shelf stability. Always check the pouch is unopened and undamaged before serving, and refrigerate any leftovers once opened.

Yes — Only Organic products are nutritionist approved.

This means our recipes have been reviewed by qualified nutrition professionals to help ensure they’re appropriate for the intended age or life stage and can play a role in balanced everyday eating.

When developing products, we consider ingredient quality, age-appropriate textures, flavour variety and the nutritional role a product can play within a healthy, varied diet.

With the exception of our Vanilla Bean Custard, Only Organic products do not contain added or refined sugar. Any sugars present come naturally from ingredients such as fruit, vegetables or dairy.

We keep our ingredient lists as simple and transparent as possible, using thoughtfully selected ingredients to support little ones through different stages of their feeding journey.

At Only Organic, nutrient-rich food starts with thoughtfully selected certified organic ingredients.

We use fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, proteins, herbs and spices chosen for both their nutritional value and their role in balanced everyday eating. Our recipes are carefully developed to deliver flavour, variety and age-appropriate nutrition across our Baby & Toddler and Adult ranges.

We also focus on convenience without compromising on ingredient quality, and selected products are nutritionist approved to help ensure they’re suitable for their intended life stage.

Only Organic products are not halal certified.

Some products may still be suitable depending on the ingredients used, so we recommend checking the ingredient list on the specific product you’re interested in.

If you have questions about a particular product, our Customer Care team will be happy to help with the most up-to-date information.

Only Organic products are not kosher certified.

If you have specific dietary requirements, we recommend checking the ingredient list and product information for the individual product you’re interested in, as suitability may vary across the range.

If you have questions about a particular product, our Customer Care team will be happy to help.

Some Only Organic products are made with ingredients that do not contain gluten, while others contain gluten-containing ingredients such as wheat or oats.

We always recommend checking the ingredient list and allergen statement on each product to determine whether it’s suitable for your dietary needs.

If you have coeliac disease or a medically diagnosed gluten intolerance, please check the packaging carefully and seek advice from your healthcare professional if needed.

Baby food pouches can be a convenient and nourishing option as part of a healthy, varied diet.

At Only Organic, our pouches are made with thoughtfully selected certified organic ingredients and are designed to support little ones through different stages of their feeding journey.

We see pouches as one helpful part of the picture — best used alongside a broad variety of foods, textures and family meals rather than as a replacement for them.

Choosing certified organic baby food is a personal decision, but many families choose it because certified organic ingredients are grown and produced to strict standards.

Only Organic is a family-owned New Zealand brand, and our wet food range is proudly made at our Auckland-based factory.

Our meals, purées, soups and other wet food products are made using thoughtfully selected ingredients and strict quality and food safety standards.

Some of our snack products are made by trusted international manufacturing partners who meet our quality, safety and certified organic requirements.

Only Organic has been supporting families for over 30 years with convenient, nourishing food made from thoughtfully selected certified organic ingredients.

Our range is designed to make mealtimes easier without compromising on quality, with no artificial colours or flavours and age-appropriate options for babies and toddlers.

As a family-owned New Zealand brand, we’re proud to create food that helps little ones explore a broad variety of flavours and textures from their very first tastes.

To help ensure quality and food safety, Only Organic products should be stored according to the instructions on pack, as storage requirements can vary between products.

In general, unopened products should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, products should be refrigerated promptly and consumed within the timeframe stated on pack.

If heating a product, always follow the preparation instructions, stir well and check the temperature before serving.

Pouches, Packaging & Preparation

Yes — Only Organic products can be enjoyed straight from the pouch and do not need to be heated before serving.

For babies and younger children, we recommend squeezing the contents onto a spoon or into a bowl rather than feeding directly from the pouch. This supports safer, more responsive feeding and allows you to check the temperature if the food has been warmed.

Our savoury meals are often best served warm, while fruit purées and snacks can be enjoyed cold or at room temperature.

Yes — where suitable recycling programmes are available, we encourage families to recycle Only Organic pouches.

Our baby food pouches can be recycled through participating soft plastic or specialised recycling schemes, depending on your local area. We recommend emptying and rinsing the pouch before recycling where possible.

You can learn more here: Only Organic Pouch Recycling Information.

No — our packaging supplier confirms that BPA and phthalates are not used in the raw materials for our pouches, and PFAS are not intentionally added. Our pouches are also free from PVC and PVDC.

We carefully choose packaging materials that meet strict food safety requirements and are suitable for the products inside.

We don’t recommend freezing Only Organic products in their original pouches.

Freezing can affect the integrity of the packaging and may impact product quality once thawed. If you’d like to freeze a product after opening, transfer it to a suitable freezer-safe container first.

Always follow the storage instructions on pack and discard any product that has been heated or partially consumed.

It depends on the pouch.

Our tear-top pouches can be microwaved, although we recommend pouring the contents into a microwave-safe bowl or container first so the food heats evenly and to help avoid hot spots.

Our spouted pouches should not be microwaved, as they contain a layer of aluminium foil.

Always stir heated food well and test the temperature before serving.

Yes — our products are packaged in food-grade pouches that meet strict food safety standards and are designed to keep food safe, fresh and nutritious.

We work closely with trusted packaging partners and regularly review packaging standards to ensure our pouches continue to meet the high standards families expect from Only Organic.

Feeding Stages & First Foods

Starting solids is an exciting milestone, and every baby will be ready in their own time. Many babies begin around 6 months, but readiness is best guided by developmental cues rather than age alone.

Signs your baby may be ready include:

  • Good head and neck control

  • Sitting upright with support

  • Showing interest in food and watching others eat

  • Opening their mouth when food is offered

  • Reaching for food or trying to grab at spoons

When starting solids, introduce foods gradually and continue breast milk or formula alongside solids during the first year. If you’re unsure, speak with your healthcare professional.

Yes — Only Organic can be used as a first food when your baby is showing signs of readiness for solids.

Our recipes are made with thoughtfully selected certified organic ingredients and no artificial colours or flavours, with age-appropriate options to help little ones begin exploring new tastes and textures.

When starting solids, it’s best to introduce foods gradually and follow your baby’s cues. If you’re introducing common allergens such as dairy, egg, peanut or wheat, current guidance recommends offering them separately and one at a time so you can monitor for any reactions.

Only Organic products are designed for different life stages across our Baby & Toddler and Adult ranges, with age guidance clearly shown on pack.

Our Baby & Toddler range starts from 4+ months and includes age-appropriate textures and flavours to support little ones from first tastes through to more textured meals and snacks.

Age guidance should always be used alongside your child’s individual readiness, feeding skills and appetite.

Only Organic age stages are designed to support your little one as they grow and move through different stages of their feeding journey.

As babies and toddlers develop, their feeding skills, appetite and ability to manage different textures change too. Our staged range helps support that progression with age-appropriate textures, flavours and portion sizes.

In general, the differences between stages include:

  • Texture progression — from smooth purées to chunkier meals and finger foods

  • Ingredient variety — introducing a wider range of flavours and ingredients over time

  • Portion suitability — recipes designed with different stages in mind

  • Feeding development — supporting milestones like spoon-feeding, self-feeding and more independent eating

Every child develops at their own pace, so age stages should be used as a guide alongside your little one’s individual readiness and confidence with food.

Start small and follow your baby’s cues — every baby is different, and starting solids is all about exploration and building confidence with food. During the first year, breast milk or formula will still remain your baby’s main source of nutrition.

A simple guide is:

  • around 6–7 months: start with 1 small meal a day, such as 1–2 tablespoons of purée

  • around 7–9 months: progress to 2 meals a day as appetite and interest grow

  • around 9–12 months: gradually work towards 3 meals a day alongside regular milk feeds

Some days your baby may eat more and some days less — that’s completely normal.

There’s no single “perfect” first food. The healthiest approach is to offer a variety of simple, age-appropriate foods and follow your baby’s readiness and feeding cues.

Smooth single-ingredient foods such as vegetables, fruit and iron-containing foods are commonly used when starting solids.

At Only Organic, our first foods range is designed to support babies as they begin their feeding journey, with simple recipes made from thoughtfully selected certified organic ingredients.

Weaning & Feeding Guidance

Yes — purées can absolutely be offered alongside finger foods, and many families choose to combine both approaches.

Offering a mix of purées and finger foods can help babies explore different textures, flavours and feeding skills at their own pace. Purées can be served on a spoon, used as a dip, or spread onto soft finger foods such as toast or steamed vegetables.

As always, supervise your baby while eating and offer foods that are appropriate for their age and stage.

Only Organic purées are designed to fit easily into your little one’s feeding journey, whether you’re spoon-feeding, exploring baby-led weaning, or doing a combination of both.

You can use our purées in lots of ways:

  • spoon-feed from a bowl or on a spoon

  • use as a dip or spread with soft finger foods

  • stir through foods like oats, pasta, rice or mashed vegetables as your baby progresses with textures

  • add to homemade recipes for extra flavour and variety

For babies and younger children, we recommend serving from a spoon or bowl rather than feeding directly from the pouch.

Yes — Only Organic can be used as part of a baby-led weaning (BLW) approach.

Our purées can be incorporated into BLW in a few simple ways, such as:

  • serving on a pre-loaded spoon for your baby to self-feed

  • using as a dip alongside soft finger foods like steamed vegetables or toast fingers

  • spreading onto soft foods to add flavour and familiarity

As always, choose foods that are appropriate for your baby’s age and stage, and supervise closely while eating.

Yes — Only Organic products can be mixed with other foods, and it can be a great way to add variety, flavour and texture as your little one progresses.

Our purées can be enjoyed on their own or used in everyday meals. You might:

  • stir them through pasta, rice, oats or mashed vegetables

  • use them as a sauce or flavour base for homemade meals

  • serve them alongside family meals to introduce familiar flavours

  • pair them with soft finger foods for baby-led weaning

As always, follow your child’s age and stage when introducing new foods and textures.

Only Organic products can absolutely be enjoyed as part of a healthy, balanced and varied diet.

How often you use them will depend on your child’s age, appetite, routine and your family’s preferences — whether that’s every day, a few times a week or simply when you need a convenient option.

We see our range as one helpful part of the picture, alongside a broad variety of other foods and textures.

Baby-led weaning (BLW) is an approach to starting solids where babies are encouraged to self-feed soft, age-appropriate finger foods from the beginning, rather than relying only on spoon-fed purées.

It allows babies to explore food through touch, taste and texture at their own pace, and many families enjoy it because it can help support independence and confidence around food.

There’s no single “right” way to introduce solids, and many families naturally combine BLW with spoon-feeding.

Moving from purées to more textured foods is a gradual process, and every baby will progress at their own pace.

A simple way to support the transition is to slowly increase texture over time while introducing soft, age-appropriate finger foods alongside purées. This helps little ones build confidence with chewing, self-feeding and exploring new textures.

You might start by:

  • moving from smooth purées to mashed or chunkier textures

  • offering soft finger foods such as steamed vegetables, soft fruit, toast fingers, pasta or avocado

  • serving purées alongside finger foods rather than replacing them all at once

Always supervise while eating and follow your baby’s cues.

Yes — toddlers can absolutely enjoy baby food pouches as part of a healthy, varied diet.

Many families continue using pouches beyond the baby stage because they’re convenient for busy days, lunchboxes, travel or alongside meals.

As always, choose products that suit your child’s age and stage, and offer them alongside a broad variety of other foods and textures.

Every child develops differently, but many little ones are ready for snacks once they’re confidently eating solids and showing interest in food between meals.

Signs your child may be ready include:

  • Eating regular meals and wanting food between meal times

  • Picking up and self-feeding foods independently

  • Managing more textured foods confidently

  • Showing interest in what others are eating

  • Developing pincer grasp skills

Choose snacks that suit your child’s age and stage, and always supervise while eating.

Allergens, Digestion & Safe Feeding

All allergen information for Only Organic products is clearly listed on pack, including in the ingredient list and any mandatory allergen statements where required.

Where relevant, we may also include precautionary statements such as “may contain traces of…” to provide additional transparency.

We recommend checking the label every time you purchase, as recipes and manufacturing information can occasionally change. If your child has a diagnosed allergy or specific dietary requirement, please contact our Customer Care team for the most up-to-date information.

A healthy, varied diet that includes fruits, vegetables, wholegrains and plenty of fluids can help support healthy digestion as babies begin exploring solids.

Foods such as pears, prunes, apples, peas, oats and vegetables are commonly included in baby diets to support regular digestion.

Every baby is different, and it’s normal for digestion and bowel habits to change as little ones adjust to new foods and textures. If you have concerns about your baby’s digestion, speak with your healthcare professional.

Signs of a food allergy in babies can vary, but may include rash or hives, swelling, vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, wheezing or unusual discomfort after eating a new food.

Because reactions can range from mild to serious, it’s important to monitor your baby closely when introducing new foods, particularly common allergens. Many healthcare professionals recommend introducing allergens one at a time so it’s easier to identify any reactions.

If you suspect your baby is having an allergic reaction, seek medical advice promptly.
