Journal: Baby & toddler
As a team of parents, our children’s future matters deeply.
We’ve always focused on the food that our little ones eat, sourcing only the best quality ingredients – all certified organic – which means produce is grown just as nature intended.
But what about our packaging?
Over the years, pouches have gained popularity as they are lighter to carry and easier to use. As a business, we responded to consumer demand and gradually removed glass jars from our range. In May 2018, after 20 years of production, customer preference for the convenience of baby food in pouches brought our jar production to an end.
Since then, we’ve been working closely with our packaging suppliers to develop materials that are recyclable, while still meeting food safety requirements and maintaining the high quality of our products – which remains the biggest challenge. Unfortunately, Australia and New Zealand don’t yet have the same recycling facilities as some European countries, where flexible packaging is more easily processed and can simply go in your household recycling bin.
In 2020, we made our 100g and 120g baby pouches recyclable through the Soft Plastics Recycling scheme in New Zealand.
There is now onshore processing of post-consumer soft plastics with the team at Future Post – a fantastic example of how plastics collected through the Soft Plastic Recycling bins can be recycled and turned into useful materials such as high-quality fence posts.

Recycling can make a big difference, but disposing of waste properly is just as important. For our pouches, here’s how you can help:

We know this is just the beginning, but we are committed to progress. We’re working with our suppliers to change the composition of our other packs so they can also become recyclable.
Food safety will always remain our number one priority, and once we are confident that all aspects of storage and safety are met, we’ll be able to roll out these changes.
